Most people don’t need two desks, but since my first desk is in my second bedroom which is currently being lived in by someone other than myself, it was time for me to get a desk of my own. You’ll have to use your imagination, but my dining room table had become my desk. Mail, taxes, work stuff, DIY projects, just like everything you can think of ended up on that table every day. I’d clean it off and then, bam! It was covered again. Since I cleared the books out of my bedroom I’ve had a plan to get a small desk for my bedroom. Not necessarily to use as a place to sit and work, but a place to organize all of the things one needs in life like pens, post-it notes, tape, etc. My “dream” desk was a parson desk from West Elm. But then I realized that the West Elm’s Parson desk is a $349 piece of engineered wood. Yeah, if I’m going to spend nearly $400 on something it better be stinkin’ real wood. But also, I was never planning on spending that much anyway, I just like the line of the parsons desk. So I indulged in one of my greatest pleasures… craigslist! I found a guy selling a Mainstays (Walmart brand) parsons desk new in the box for $35!
I really love it! It fits the space well. It doesn’t feel cramped at all which I was a little nervous about, so that’s good. I pulled in one of the chairs from the dining room corner to use there for now. Maybe someday I’ll replace it with something else. Now I can focus my attention on what will go above the desk. I love my Switzerland calendar, but that big wall has lost of potential so I want to experiment by doing something different. No specific plan yet, just a (nearly) blank wall and my imagination.
Hi Jasmin,
Your white furniture’s look nice against the navy blue wall.
