And the winning color is: Classic Silver by Behr

Why my hesitation? Well, first of all it is weird to see the same stuff against a different background.

It looks weird, right? I liked the dark green for being unique, so I’m struggling with the loss of uniqueness. BUT there is a plan beyond just lightening up the room.

First of all, I wanted to loose all the pictures on the right side of the room (it was looking cluttery in that area) and since there were so many holes it made sense to fill them in and paint again. So do I have plan for that area? Of course! But you’ll have to be patient (as will I) because some plans take time and this is one of those plans. Intrigued?

While we are at the side by sides, here is one more:

Honestly though I am just super super glad this paint job is over. Painting, I’M OVER YOU. This was the 11th time I’ve painted a room in this house and I haven’t even lived here two years yet. Oh, and there are only six rooms, make sense of that math. The old idiom is true though, my painting skills have vastly improved with all that practice.

It hasn’t been very sunny here lately, you know, winter and such, which is why these pictures aren’t super bright even though they were taken during the day. All that to say, that it actually is much brighter in there now compared to the dark green. Goal one, to lighten the room, is a success. I think once I do my secret thing (I’m only keeping it secret for dignities sake, if it looks terrible I’ll take it down and no one will be the wiser) on the big blank wall it will feel different in there.

Everyone who has seen it so far has really liked it, but I’m still on the fence. I think it boils down to this: I like crazily painted rooms so even though this is a good visual break from the dark colors in the adjoining rooms, I still want it to be navy blue or hot pink or something.
